Bush graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He was a baseball player and head cheerleader in high school. He attended Yale University, his father's alma mater, and graduated in 1968. Bush received the lowest possible admission grade on the pilot's written aptitude test and was admitted into the Texas Air National Guard. Though at the time most fighter pilots served in Vietnam, Bush was never called to active duty in Vietnam. Bush applied to Univeristy of Texas School of Law, but was not accepted, and attended Harvard Business School. He received his MBA from Harvard University.
